Some sixty-five miles west of Patzcuaro, Uruapan is nestled in a broad and fertile valley with abundant vegetation. Avocados are the principal crop in the area.
Settled in 1533, Uruapan claims to have the first hospital in America - la Capilla Huatapera - which now houses the Arts & Crafts museum. Ample parks and the Cupatitzio River have inspired many a poet and song-writer. |
