West of Saltillo, Torreon was founded in the late 1800's by British, American, French and Mexican citizens in the area looking to establish a rail center and fort.
Today's Torreon serves as the shipping point for cotton and other cash crops farmed in the area. A significant and important dairy industry has also developed in the area which along with flour milling, mining and smelting form the economic backbone of the area. |
