Some thirty-five miles West of Mexico City on the principal highway to Guadalajara, Toluca reigns as the capital of the state of Mexico at the foot of the Nevado de Toluca - Mexico's sixth highest peak. Toluca is an important communications and industrial center.
Cash crops in the area include wheat, corn, cactus, sugar cane, coffee and other fruits and vegetables. An important dairy industry has also developed in the area. Industrially, Toluca houses an automobile assembly plant and cement, steel, iron and aluminum processing plants. |
