Close to the western end of the Chihuahua-Pacifico railway, Los Mochis was founded in the late nineteenth century by Benjamin Johnston, a Pennsylvania farmer seeking fame and fortune in Mexico. His entrepreneurial base was the Ingenio Azucarero - Sugar Mill - which still exists to refine the extensive sugar cane fields planted in the area. |
